Configure custom domain with Cloudflare

Before you add the DNS records to Cloudflare, you must configure your domain in Way. See our full guide about connecting your domain to Way.

Cloudflare domain setup

Log into the Cloudflare dashboard.

If you have not added your domain (site) yet, follow the official Cloudflare documentation to do so.

In the “Home” tab, choose your domain.

Choose “DNS” in the navbar (third button).

Choose “Add record”. If you want to use a subdomain, see step "6. Subdomain configuration". If you want to use the root domain, see step "7. Root domain configuration".

Subdomain configuration (if you want to use something like subdomain.yourdomain.com)
In “Type”, choose CNAME.
In “Name”, enter the name of the subdomain that you want to route traffic for (eg. pages).
In “Target”, enter pages.way.live.
In “TTL”, choose 1h.
In “Proxy status”, choose DNS only.
Confirm your changes clicking the “Save” button.
Check if the status of your domain is Active in Way.

Root domain configuration (if you want to use something like yourdomain.com)
In “Type”, choose A.
In “Name”, enter @.
In “IPv4 address”, enter 34.205.231.242.
In “TTL”, choose 1h.
In “Proxy status”, choose DNS only.
Confirm your changes clicking the “Save” button.
Check if the status of your domain is Active in Way.

TIP 1: we recommend to set up the www subdomain if you're using the root domain to publish your landing pages. To do so, follow the steps described in in "6. Subdomain configuration" and use “www” as "Name".

Enable Cloudflare proxy

Our SSL certificate generation relies on DNS CNAME verification. We recommend that you enable the Cloudflare proxy after Way provisions your SSL certificate: make sure your DNS record has "Proxy status" set to “DNS only”, access your domain for Way to generate the certificate and only then change the "Proxy status" to "Proxy" in Cloudflare.

It is important that SSL/TLS Encryption Mode it set to Full in Cloudflare when proxying Way landing pages. Please, refer to Cloudflare documentation on Encryption modes. Otherwise, security errors may occur when accessing your pages.

Congratulations!

Well done! You've set up CloudFlare to point to your Way landing pages. Now, you should wait for the DNS records to propagate. This can take a few minutes or even hours in extreme cases. If you've performed the described steps and are still facing issues, take a screenshot of your DNS configuration and send it to our support via chat.
